The more I paint with light, the more I love it. The more I paint with light, the more I realize how hard it is to make a boring photo. The more I paint with light, the more I realize how it’s impossible to get the same photo twice– when you take that photo, it is YOURS, and truly YOUR original creation. It’s your canvas. It’s painting. But it’s with light. And I love it.

The first picture I’ve ever taken light painting with glowsticks.

There’s something about this photo that stands out to me. Those specific motions combined with the cool-colored light (except for the red dot, which is the standby light on my stereo)…just so good. Really good. Plus you can see my torso lit up. I really like this one.

Squigglies!

I tried to keep them somewhat symmetrical.

Almost looks like it could be a metroid. Of awesome. And color.

This is another of my favorites of tonight’s shoot. I used a tri-color glowstick. Love it.

Woo!

Rainbow-y!

More rainbow-y-ness!

It’s like a light-painted smiling face!
And here are some slightly kinetic photos from earlier (still mostly just light painting), while waiting for the bus and after I got off at my stop:

It’s like handwriting!

Woo, more handwriting-esque stuff!

The light on the right almost looks like it could be lightning arcing to a point. The lights to the left almost look like they’re emanating off to the sky. Wee!

I wanted to get a freeze painting (my own term. when you use flash to freeze the setting, then paint light over it) but then I thought the bus driver would get a little suspicious of the flash. I still like this.

Some fun with the traffic lights at the top of my street.

Almost like deformed wishbones.

Yay! Rotate-y goodness.

LED palm tree and flamingo from the backyard. Woo!

Yay!
I still can’t get over how awesome this stuff is. So much possibility…
